A Legacy Built from Love and Purpose!

A letter from our founder

Dora Reed
Founder & Co-Owner, Blooming Bridges Foundation and Atypical Family Therapy & Disability Support Services

At Blooming Bridges Foundation and Atypical Family Therapy, everything we do is rooted in a deep commitment to community, compassion, and care. Our work is personal—because it began with my family, and it continues for families like yours.

About Me

My name is Dora Reed. I’m a proud mother of three and grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren. As a parent of two children on the autism spectrum, I understand the powerful hope all parents carry—to see our children grow into loving, capable individuals who thrive.

This hope became my purpose. And that purpose has become a legacy I am building with love and intention, not only for my children but for the families in our community who need specialized support to reach their full potential.

Our Journey to Southwest Missouri

Over the years, my family has lived in many parts of the country—from the Midwest to the West Coast to the South. In January 2020, we returned to Southwest Missouri, searching for a place where my children would be treated with dignity, compassion, and fairness.

I hoped they would be welcomed into schools and extracurriculars, attend field trips, and access the kinds of opportunities that so many other children experience as a given.

Before our move, my children were actively involved in a range of therapies that helped them grow and thrive. But when we arrived in Southwest Missouri, the reality was devastating:

There were not enough therapists or clinics available

Waiting lists stretched from 7 to 10 years

Essential services were simply out of reach

Without those therapies, my children began to regress. Watching their progress slip away was emotionally and psychologically exhausting—for them and for our entire family.

Why We Founded Blooming Bridges Foundation

Our mission is to close the gaps in care and build lasting support systems for families like mine—families who are too often overlooked.

But our vision extends beyond therapy services. At the heart of Blooming Bridges Foundation is a drive to foster collaboration between families and first responders, schools, healthcare professionals, and other community leader

We believe that open communication and strong relationships between these groups are essential to building safe, inclusive environments where children with disabilities feel seen, valued, and supported.

What Makes Us Different

We understand that:

Every child is unique

One-size-fits-all solutions do not work

Families deserve real, individualized care

At Blooming Bridges Foundation and Atypical Family Therapy, we work alongside you and your child’s medical team to develop personalized therapy plans tailored to your child’s needs and strengths.

Our team is deeply trained and fully equipped to provide high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care. But more than that, we are driven by purpose.

We aren’t just filling service gaps—we’re building a bridge toward a future of lasting success.

Looking Ahead

We know that families can’t afford to wait another 7 to 10 years, Our children’s potential is too precious.

Through Blooming Bridges Foundation and Atypical Family Therapy, I am committed to creating a stronger, more compassionate community—one where children with disabilities are given every chance to thrive, and every family is empowered, supported, and heard.

We’re here to walk this path with you—as partners, advocates, and allies.

With love and unwavering purpose,
